Saints started the season with a home game against Great Moor and
after only a minute they were 1 up when Liam Rowley weaver latched
onto a through ball and rounded the keeper to finish well. Great
Moor rallied and with the pressure on an own goal by Nathan Whiting
equalled the score line, followed 10 min's later by another for
Great Moor to take the lead. Liam then levelled the score with a
fine back post shot Great Moor again took the lead only for Saints
to reply with a fine effort from Danny Gloor after a great run.
Saints could have gone further in front if new player Harry Nichols
could have found his finishing touch but it wasn't till 5 min's
before 1/2 time that Liam once again found space at the back post to
finish and seal a great first half performance with a hat trick. The
second half began with Great Moor attacking and putting Saints on
the back foot but the defence held and Saints began to dominate the
game being first to the ball and on 70 min's Josh Black finished
after great work from the solid Saints midfield and with 15 min's
left a killer cross from Nathan Whiting, Danny Gloor finished a
great move with his second. The game finished with with Saints
winning 6 – 3 their biggest win and best start to the season so far
.The new players of Sean Hickey James Patterson Harry Nichols and
James Wright all played their part and hopefully given Saints that
missing piece they lacked last season only time will tell.
M.O.T.M was James Wright who controlled the midfield.
