up the league the Saints GO!!!!!!!!!!!
With an early kick of against
Stockport Apollo who were joint top of the league this
rearranged fixture was not what the Saints wanted after
their not so good start to the league campaign having been
beaten 1-7 2 weeks earlier by Apollo at home but with
changes made to the starting positions Saints got off to a
flyer with the opening goal coming after 7 mins from good
work by Josh Black to finish well. As expected Apollo turned
up the heat but the midfield and defence of the Saints held
strong and just before half time a quick break saw the
Apollo goalie bring down one of the forwards and a penalty
was awarded which Declan Rudd despatched to the right 2-0
half time.
Apollo came out second half all
guns blazing but Saints stood strong and began to control
the half and with the pressure mounting on the Apollo back
line it was only time before another goal was scored and
Josh folds with a strike from outside the box supplied the
goal. Saints pressed on as they did so Apollo got a
consolation goal in the 86 min only for Saints to regain the
3 goal cushion 2 mins later when a penalty was awarded after
the goalie fowled inside the box Dan Gloor scored. the final
whistle blew and a result that had been coming for along
time materialised against such a good team made it all the
more sweet
