Saints hoped to continue there good run in the league with their 5th straight win but with 5 team members not wishing to play the odds were stacked against them from the off.
on such a hot afternoon the luxury of having subs was not an option
but the 11 that went onto the pitch like gladiators knowing it was
going to be along hot afternoon, Saints had much of the early part
of the game and scored on 10 mins through Danny Gloor and continued
to play well untill the 35th min when the ball went out near the
Saints goal but the Ref did not give the goal kick and Great moor
scored. After 40 mins and with Saints still smarting from the last
goal Great moor scored a superb goal to go in at half time 2-1.With
fresh players taking the pitch Great moor extended their lead on 50
mins Saints heads didn't drop and hit the wood work no less than 3
times before Josh Richmond pulled one back, a penalty decision soon
after was not given you could sense it wasn't going to be Saints day
and with the team tiring Great moor scored on 73 mins and so
finishing the game off.The Saints players came off the pitch with
their heads held high as they put in a great performance against all
the odds, true gladiators Spartacus sorry man of the match was
Nathan Whiting for a solid performance at centre back. the game was
played in a great spirit by both teams and showed what youth
football is all about.
