Macclesfield Saints v Sandbach
Today we were without goal keeper Joe, Jamie stood in and what a fine Job he did.
Saints kicked off and started well.
Jamie had his first touch on the ball early when Sandbach broke through and shot at goal, Jamie watched the ball well and held well.
The first attacking play from Saints involved many players with some great passing and team work from Mike, Jack, Liam, Sam, Edward and Louis.
Liam continued to work tirelessly in midfield and made some outstanding tackles.
Sam made a firm tackle and won the ball on the right hand side, he sent the ball across to Alex, who picked out Liam who in turn flicked onto Jack, Sandbach soon blocked Jacks shot and Louis picked the ball up and forced a throw in to Saints. Alex with the throw picked out Liam, Liam connected with it and went for the shot just shooting wide. Great teamwork from Saints.
Sandbach made a great run down the length of the pitch, it was left for Edward to clear the danger.
A corner kick to Sandbach put Saints under pressure in the box and despite some confusion Jamie made a good save.
Sandbach were having equal share of the ball and kept Jamie busy. He made an outstanding save to keep the Saints in the game.
Saints were awarded a free kick when Sam was taken down , Louis took the free kick and sent a perfect ball into the box and just missed connecting with the heads of both Mike and Liam.
Saints were soon rewarded for their excellent play Jack hit the back of the net with help from both Alex and Edward. 1-0.
Sandbach soon got their much deserved equalizer, Sandbach were passing the ball well.
1-1.
Jack struck the net again 2-0
Saints soon hit the net again with a corner, Louis played the short ball to Sam who struck the ball hard past the keeper.3-1.
Edward was having a fine game today clearing balls well and controlled shots towards Louis, Liam, Sam, Alex and Jack.
Saints were hungry for more goals Jack B had a shot blocked and struck again only for the ball to go wide.
Liam's determination on the pitch paid of when he found the ball at his feet he struck the ball first time with his weaker foot and past the Sandbach keeper.4-1.
All Saints players were part of a solid team performance today Harry was holding his own and making some good decisions. Alex was always looking for the right pass and working the length of the pitch and Mike as captain was hollowing instructions and words of encouragement.
A corner to Saints led to Alex having a shot on goal and was unlucky when the ball just went over the cross bar.
Half time 4-1.
2nd half
James came on for Josh.
In the first few minutes Sam hit the Side netting,and Jamie had to make another excellent save.
Saints next goal came from a long goal kick Jamie to Sam who headed on towards goal found Jack then Louis who sends wide to Sam ,he crossed the ball into the box and Jacks shot trickled over the line.
5-1.
Another goal from Saints, A long goal kick from Jamie to Sam who flicked on to Jack who didn't disappoint and struck the ball past the keeper.6-1
Despite Saints goal tally Sandbach were still a strong well organised side and never gave up and were rewarded with a goal. 6-2, then another.6-3.
Saints were sitting back a little and Sandbach's two goals close together made Saints take stock and respond.
Mike with a well timed pass to Jack who picked up Sam, running down the wing crossed an excellent ball into Louis who scored with ease, a well deserved goal.7-3.
Alex played a big part in Saints 8th goal from a throw Alex struck the ball well it hit the post and trickled along the goal mouth and needed a touch from Liam to cross the line.8-3.
Although Sandbach tried to push forward they were sopped in their tracks by the likes of Mike, Edward ,Harry Josh and James.
Saints were on fire and were still pushing forward at every opportunity, Sam shot over the cross bar, Liam shot wide.
Sam was on hand to set Liam up for his hat rick with a perfectly placed cross into the box enabling Liam to Tap it in.9-3.
Sandbach scored a consolation goal 9-4.
With minutes to go Josh with a fantastic header just missed the goal line. fantastic game of football today from both teams played in the correct manner.
