GRAPPENHALL V MACCLESFIELD SAINTS.
Saints travelled to Grappenhall today for their last game of the season. The teams kicked off at 10.30am with the sun blazing down,the conditions were going to be tough today!
As always Saints started well straight from the kick off,Jack with a pass to sam down the right wing took the ball into the box but Grappenhall defended well and stopped the danger.
Mike was forced to make a decisive header when Grappenhall looked dangerous,then followed up by a long kick from Edward.
Grappenhall were looking more and more dangerous as James's quick reflexes cleared the ball of the line. Grappenhall were awarded a free kick just outside the box,a great ball was sent in but Mike made the jump and cleared with his head,then josh cleared the ball further up the pitch.
Joe made a great save, but couldn't stop Grappenhalls next strike.1-0.
Mike,Josh ,Edward and Alex all working well at the back,Saints with a chance from Liam to Jack onto sam who's shot was kicked away by Grappenhall.
Grappenhall on the break through the middle struck well Joe made a superb save with his feet,then Edward cleared the ball further to Alex who's well timed pass found Sam on the wing who crossed the ball into the box but the keeper pushed away for a throw to Saints.
The Boys were working so hard in extreme temperatures passing supporting and talking to each other.Grappenhall on the break again forced Joe to make another outstanding save.
Jack supported by his team mates gave Saints the lift they needed and scored saints first goal.1-1.
Saint play was lifted even more when minutes later goal number two came,Edward picked up the ball,passed long to Sam who in turn picked up Jack running into the box,with a decisive shot scored his second of the game.1-2.
Both Grappenhall and Saints were feeling the heat but were both giving it their all.
Alex was having a great game today scooping all the loose balls in midfield and making some great decisions with the ball,He passed a great ball to sam who was unmarked sam took the ball towards the box passing grappenhall players on the way sending the ball into the box for jack to tap in for his hatrick.1-3.
Grappenhall shot wide and joe saved another shot. Josh and Edward were clearing most balls up at the back,Mike running everywhere and Edward also could be heard motivating his team with words of encouragement. Liam covering the left wing well sent a ball up to Jack who controlled well passed to Sam who took the ball further in the box and shot keeper got a touch but couldn't stop the powerful strike.1-4.
Saints were on a roll a real team effort everyone holding their positions.
Josh picked up the ball in Saints half picked up by Liam then Edward wide to Jack then to Sam who sent it back into the box just skimming past Jack ,Grappenhall keeper kicked away and Jack sent it straight back in for his 4th of the game and his 60th of the season.1-5.
Halftime.
Grappenhall came out strong and James had to make a clearance and joe made another fine save. Jack b was marking no 9 the biggest player on the pitch and was doing a sterling job giving him as little space as possible and pressurising him. Mike and James continued to clear up loose balls in the box supported by others.
Grappenhalls skill and work rate were finally rewarded when a strike defeated Joe.2-5.
Saints responded quickly with a strike just wide from Gerald and two blocked shots from Jack. Despite the heat Gerald and Jack b and Jamie were chasing every ball.
Gerald with another shot on goal had his shot cleared off the line.
Harry holding the ball up and passing well and supporting his team mates and Joe continuing to pull off some great saves.
However the heat was playing a big part in today's game and legs were getting tired.
Grappenhall were closing in fast hitting the back of the net again.3-5. then again soon after.4-5.
Grappenhall were a good side and were getting more and more chances to shoot as legs got tired and the boys were exhausted.
End to end action both teams wanting the win.
However just before the final whistle Grappenhall equalised, final score 5-5.
