MACCLESFIELD SAINTS V CONGLETON ROVERS
1st half
Saints kicked of first game of season, started well with an early attempt on goal from Tom who hit the woodwork. Saints kept up the pressure and had a goal disallowed from Jack N for offside.
Congleton then had the ball and were rewarded with there first shot on goal. Saints found themselves 1-0 down. However they soon brought the score level when both Jamie and Alex were involved in setting up Jack N to score Saints first goal.
Sam continued to work the wing sending the ball into the box again and again to Jack N who's efforts each time narrowly missed or were saved. Joe made some excellent saves and Mike, Jamie, Josh, Alex, Jack B all working well communicating and working as a team. Shots continued from the saints from Jack, Sam, Gerald and Tom but without reward. Congleton again took the lead and Saints found themselves chasing the game again.
Gerald found Sam from a throw in and he ran down the wing and past to Jack N who sent it flying past the keeper. Half time score 2-2.
2nd half (sub Josh off Jack b on)
The next goal after the break came from the Saints, Sam made a run down the wing and passed the keeper. Saint were awarded a penalty and Sam struck the ball wide. Saint continued to create chances and defend well. A scramble in the goal mouth gave Saints yet another goal, from Tom closely followed by Toms 2nd from a corner kick. The score now 5-2 up with little time left Gerald hit the back of the net but yet again ruled off side.
Final whistle 5-2 win. Great match boys!!
