MACCLESFIELD SAINTS V TYTHERINGTON JUNIORS
Saints played at home today and faced a strong side who are currently
second in our league, also to add to the pressure it was a home derby
that Saints had to win to lift team spirit.
As always Saints started well with some excellent teamwork involving
Jack, Sam and Louie.
Play soon became even as Tytherington applied pressure at every
opportunity great defensive play from Jamie, Eddy, Reece, James and
Mike.
Saints had a good chance when we won a corner, then a throw in found
both Louie and Jack B in the box and both were unlucky not to strike.
On the attack Tytherington made a great run down the wing towards goal
only to be closely followed by Liam who never gave up and cleared the
danger and forced a corner.
Louie continued to work the left wing as did Jack B on the right wing.
Tytherington had two shots both went wide a third attempt from
Tytherington saw the ball cleared of the line by Mike.
Saints continued to battle passing the ball well and working as a team.
Saints were controlling the game and had most of the possession.
Jack was unlucky not to score with some great footwork in the box
,however Tytherington soon out numbered him and led the ball into their
keepers arms.
for an impartial spectator this was an excellent game of football as
both teams worked hard. Eddy could be heard encouraging Saints from the
back .
Saints went into half time 0-0.
Second half
Early in the game two good spells of play led to Saints goal. Mike
passed the ball to Gerald who found an unmarked Sam on the wing, Sam
carried the ball into the box and just shot wide. Next a long ball from
Sam found Gerald inside the box, Gerald spotted Jack along side him
passed and Jack hit the back of the net.
Saints teamwork showed again when Jack and Gerald worked together and
the ball narrowly missed crossing the line.
Harry cleared the ball when Tytherington applied some pressure, Liam
also stood strong and cleared the ball time and time again.
Saints continued to push forward and had a few chances from Josh and
Jack and Gerald.
With time running out Tytherington attacked again and again but defence
