MACCLESFIELD SAINTS V MACCLESFIELD BOYS (CUP MATCH)
Saints knew this game was going to be tough as they were playing top of
league 1.
Macc Boys started well and forced Saints to give a corner and Macc Boys
scored but was disallowed for a foul on our keeper.
Saints battled well and Jack shot when Macc Boys keeper was off his line
but just went over the bar.
Macc Boys were given a corner and it was shot high in a goal mouth
scramble. Macc Boys had another shot only to be sent wide by keeper Joe
and Macc Boys sent the ball back in and it clipped the bar and trickled
in.
Saints were chasing every ball as Macc Boys continued to attack. Sam
took a free kick for Saints shot right at goal, keeper held well.
Saints throw in Sam had a shot blocked by Macc Boys, flicked across to
Jack who shot hard and hit the back of the net.1-1.
Saints were playing like they believed they could win this game and put
pressure on Macc Boys.
Saints keeper was tested again and again but stood strong.
A error in defence led to another goal from Macc Boys but Saints heads
didn't go down.
Saints made a sub when Eddy game on for Gerald.
With minutes to go Saints battled and Joe continued to keep Saints in
the game with some excellent goal keeping. Just before half time Macc
Boys scored again.
HALF TIME 3-1
SECOND HALF
Saints came out fighting and had an early shot with a long ball from Sam
to Jack who was just off side. Saints still wanted to win this
game.
Macc Boys scored again and this is when saints play changed they were
losing there fight and self belief. Macc Boys were starting to control
the game and soon hit the back of the net again 5-1 and again 6-1.
Saints were struggling when Sam shot a long shot which found Jack and
one on one with the keeper scored.6-2. It just wasn't enough despite a
shot from Sam which went wide the score soon became 7,8,9,10 11.the
final whistle went and the final score was 11-2.
Saints performance in the first half was excellent and I am sure
that parents watching were very proud its a shame that heads fell. I
think that all the boys deserved Man of the Match for the first half.
Lets take the positives from this game. We scored 2 goals against
top of League 1, Macc Boys. Three cheers to Macc Saints......Hip Hip,
Hooray!!!
