Congleton Rovers v Macclesfield Saints
Saints made the short journey today to face local side Congleton Rovers.
Saints kicked off and made a good start with a long ball through to Louis from Sam, Edward picked up and was awarded a free kick for a foul. Jack took the free kick he sent the ball into the box but the Rovers keeper held easily.
Liam had a chance when Rovers keeper dropped the ball went for the shot but Bravely the keeper re-held.
Rovers on the break a great ball was sent into the box but keeper Joe smothered the ball.
Saint with a goal kick, Joe found Sam controlled well took the ball down the wing crossed to Louis but Rovers took the ball ,Jack B made a great tackle and won the ball back to Sam then back to Jack B but Rovers intercepted again, they carried the ball up to the box a dangerous cross into the box was ruled off side.
Sam took the free kick long high ball over the heads to Harry who sent it towards goal to Edward with a run down the wing sent the ball to Louis to Jack who was soon swamped by Rovers players and lost the ball.
Despite great defending from both Harry and Josh Saints found themselves 1-0 down when a long ball into the box hit the back of the net.
Saints were chasing the game and were making hard work of it, Rovers were quicker to the ball and showed more desire to win the ball.
Rovers were applying all the pressure and could have gone 2-0 up had it not been for great tackles from Josh, Harry and Jack B. Josh cleared a dangerous ball inside the box giving Rovers a corner, the ball sent in was cleared by Sam who continued to apply pressure winning the ball again and taking it down the right wing into the box and crossed to a waiting Jack who was very unlucky to be ruled off side.
Joe had to make to great saves and kept rovers at bay with help from Mike and Gerald. Rovers on the break were stopped in their tracks with a brave tackle from Gerald who sent the ball to Sam took the ball into the box shot but the keeper pushed away for a corner. Sam sent the corner ball in to Louis. Edward Jack B and Liam all fought for the ball and won another corner. Jack took short ball to Sam Powerful shot blocked by Rovers.
Play was all Rovers and despite more excellent saves from Joe, Saints conceded again 2-0 down and Saints had to work harder. Still applying all the pressure Congleton had shot after shot, Joe made another fantastic save and Harry cleared the ball of the line.
Just before half time Congleton found the net again.

Rovers came out strong Mike quickly and effectively cleared the ball.
Saint on the break Louis with a shot on goal keeper held.
Jack soon did what he does best hit the back of the net to bring the gap closer.
Saints were awarded a free kick when jack was taken down Sam went for goal but keeper collected.
Saints were having more play multiple shots from Sam and Jack couldn't find the net . Jack was becoming more frustrated as he collected balls in the box only to be ruled offside time and time again.
Saints didn't give up and apart from the odd chance from Rovers were controlling the game Jacks determination was rewarded with goal number two. Saints had come back from 3-0 down to 2-3 with minutes left to the final whistle saints pushed forward at every opportunity with more shots from Jack and Sam.
