Saints v Grappenhall

Macc Saints 'B'

Lewis Forshaw, George Wilson, Dan Tute, Owen Taylor, Josh Churchman, Adam Leonard, Patrick Swallow.

Saints B reacted to losing Harry for the remainder of this competition with there best performance in weeks. Dan filled Harry's boots comfortably at the back along with George as the Saints were unlucky to go behind from a great free kick, this was Grappenhalls first and only chance of the half as we played the better football without taking our chances. The lads kept going through the second half and were rewarded with a late trademark goal from Adam Leonard using his strength as he was put through on goal, Patrick was the MOM with another composed game in the midfield breaking up attacks and starting them at will.

Result-  Macc Saints (Leonard) 1 - 1 Grappenhall

Macc Saints 'A'

Callum Bailey, Ben Heginbotham, Lewis Cheadle, Tom Cawley, Scott Dinsley, Adam Cartwright, George Crowley, Kai Loftus-Greasby.

The second game of the morning may well be reconstructed on crimewatch, Grappenhall started well putting us under pressure from the start until a fine break saw Adam give us the lead. This stunned Grappenhall and they were lost when Adam rose to head another contender for goal of the season from a perfect Dinsley corner. The lads complained at half time that Grappenhall were a bit physical to which I pointed out that it was a good sign as a very good team (see the first 10 minutes) had resorted to this. I wasn't to know that the second half would see challenges verging on assault as Grappenhall lost there head and the game as the Saints put them to the sword with George adding the third and Adam completing his hat trick to see off the challenge.

Very proud of both teams this week for different reasons. Team B because they stepped up to the plate without Harry and showed what they were made of, out passing a team known for there passing, a bit more luck would have seen a victory.
Team A because they didn't get involved in the physical intimidation whilst still competing for every ball, they showed a lot of maturity not to rise to Grappenhalls antics whilst beating them where it hurt most, on the pitch......

Result- Macc Saints (Crowley, Cartwright 3) 4 - 0 Grappenhall
