A tight game at Box lane that the Saints never looked like losing but made a meal of winning. After a bad performance last time out against Macc Tigers we showed some spirit and began to fight for each other. Solid performances at the back from Lewis, Harry and George were finally rewarded by MOM Dan Tute as he struck the winner with a fierce shot from the 10 yard line to edge the game.

 

Result- Congleton Rovers 0 - 1 Macc Saints (Tute)

The second game of the morning wasn't such a close affair although the Saints relaxed attitude at the back caused them to fall behind twice to a plucky Rovers side the quality of play shone through before the break as all the goals were scored in the first half with Scott and Adam bagging a brace apiece. Chances were wasted in the second half to extend the goal difference but this may have been unfair on the opposition who never gave up. 

 

Result- Congleton Rovers 2 - 4 Macc Saints (Dinsley 2, Cartwright 2)

 

Although Team A won, the mistakes at the back would have been punished greater against one of the better teams in the group and this was relayed to the team. Team B were much better this time out and showed a bit of fight that was lacking against Macc Tigers.
