Macc Saints Vs Hartford Saturday 29th November 2008

Saints Frozen out

On a cold November Morning, Saints players were slow to get going.

Hartford scored early on the counter-attack. Hartford’s second came only a few minutes later from a very good through ball. A slight defensive error gave Hartford their third. Joseph came out brilliantly to stop a fourth, winning the ball from the attacker’s feet. Hartford scored a beautiful long-range strike not long afterwards. After a poor first ten minutes, Saints started to push hard against them, Sam intercepted a ball, and put it in the bottom corner. 1-4. However Hartford responded with another good goal.1-5.

Saints however kept on pushing and Tom hit a great long ball over the top; unfortunately Jack hit it right over the bar. A superior slide tackle from Mike stopped Hartford getting a sixth just before half-time.

Jack had two great chances but hit them both straight at the keeper, an encouraging run down the wing from Ed also helped Saints to really push back against Hartford. During a goalmouth scramble Tom blasted the ball into the net. 5-2. A few minutes later Jack scored a good goal. Saints were now trying really hard to get another, but it just wouldn’t come. In the end the next goal came for Hartford.6-3. Another good finish from Hartford put them 7-3 up, Saints began to lose their driving momentum, and Hartford capitalised on this scoring their eight and final goal of the match.

M.O.T.M- Mike Lyon,

Despite playing some good football today, Macc Saints were unable to stop Hartford’s brilliant strikers.
