Egerton Tatton versus Macclesfield Saints
First Half
Saints started well and soon settled into the match. The wide pitch allowed the boys to pass well and they were soon rewarded for their teamwork with Jack scoring a fabulous goal into the very centre of the net. Egerton had very few chances on net but when they did attack Jamie was well placed to prevent them scoring. Mike and Ross played some accurate passes up the wing to Sam who had a couple of long attempts on goal to narrowly miss. Eddie, Alex and Tom were exceptional in midfield. Jack attempted to header a goal but just went wide. Not to be outdone Mike tried to score but the ball when over the crossbar. Tom then set up Jack for his second goal. Matthew played strongly in midfield and James and Callum were solid in defence. A penalty was awarded to Saints after a handball in the box, Alex boldly volunteered to step up to take it and was very unlucky to hit the crossbar.
Half time score 2:0
Second Half
Egerton had more play of the ball in the early stages of the second half but could not get past George, Tom and Matthew to make it count. Saints had a number of opportunities to score after a corner from Jack but it was finally Tom who slotted the ball into the net. Jack was delighted to score a hat-trick, after tempting the keeper out of the box he skilfully skirted round him to have an open shot on net. It was great to see Saints celebrate in style but they soon refocused on the game. After another corner Sam was well placed to score, his kick came off the arm of an Egerton player to be recorded as an own goal. Josh played strongly up front and battled hard to create more chances for Saints. Unfortunately Saints supremacy was marred when George, in his enthusiasm, made an awkward tackle and was given a yellow card by the referee. In the closing minutes of the game Jack performed an action replay of his third goal and skirted the Egerton keeper to score again.
