Macc Saints vs Egerton BC
This proved to be a difficult match for the team. Having been soundly beaten by Egerton BC during their two previous matches this was always going to be a challenging fixture. Joseph had also been selected to play for the King’s team but showed his commitment to Saints on Saturday.
First Half
In the opening minutes of the the game, Egerton’s formidable No 17, Tom Shepherd opened the scoring. This was quickly followed by a second goal for Egerton. Mike tried to deflect the ball in the box but it went in off his boot. Egerton had further near misses during this half and Joseph was certainly kept busy ! Tom Markey had a good shot at goal but it was saved by the Egerton keeper. Callum, Mike, Jamie , James ,Matthew and Ross made up the Saints defence. All had some good touches. James thwarted another advance by No 17 but unfortunately soon after the boys couldn’t prevent a third goal reaching the Egerton net.

Second Half
Saints managed to keep more of the possession in the early stages of the second half. Sam’s corner kicks continue to improve. Jack was strong as ever but was unable to find space amid the Egerton defence to score. Jack made an attempt on goal but the keeper hit it away. Matthew narrowly missed a goal attempt . Edward, Al and Rhys worked hard in midfield but Egerton didn’t give them space to allow them to develop the ball. Unfortunately, Egerton’s efforts saw another 5 goals to them. It would have been more without Joseph’s excellent keeping. On one occasion he found himself out of goal but great teamwork saw Mike step in to stop Egerton scoring.
