Macc Saints faced Middlewich Town away today. Middlewich started well and were unlucky not to go 1-0 up with an excellent shot at goal in the first minute of the game hitting the crossbar.
The game was action packed from start to finish with Middlewich having the upper hand, passing the ball well. Saints defence had to work hard as Middlewich had the best chances in the first half.
Second half, Saints came out with a winning attitude. Jack, Callum and
Sam all having shots at goal.
Sam Wilson bought the Saints level with a fab goal, The Middlewich goalie
kicked the ball out from a goal kick and Sam was waiting for it and hit it
straight back from beyond the halfway line dipping the goalie and in the net!!!!
Middlewich didn't give up and continued to test our goalie who stood strong and saved them all.
The next goal came from Alex K, Jack shot at goal hit the post and Alex
followed it up.
Jack N must have had at least 7-8 shots at goal but just couldn't find the back
of the net.
The last goal was a penalty to the Saints when Jack was taken out by the Middlewich goalie.
Mike L had to take the pen being the only player that has NEVER scored
What a moment, both players and parents were willing Mike to score.
He hit the ball and the goalie pushed it away but Mike tapped it in again!!!
The players were so pleased for Mike, team spirit really showed today
