Macc Saints played away to Barton YFC this week and the first game saw a total of 9 goals!
Unfortunately Joseph Machin injured his wrist during the warm up and had to retire injured. Luckily our new goalie, Oliver, was able to make his debut for Macc Saints this week.
In the opening minutes Jack Naylor scored and this was soon followed by an excellent goal by Tom Markey, scored almost from the corner position. Barton’s No 10 then pulled one back. Sam Wilson fought hard to beat off Barton’s goalie to make it 3 : 1 for Saints going into half time.
Barton started the second half well but Jack soon passed their defenders to score his second goal. Tom soon made it 5 for Macc Saints being set up well by Sam Wilson. Only minutes later Tom scored again achieving a hat trick and not to be out done Jack followed on with his third goal of the game. Oliver made a great save but on their next attack Barton scored leaving the final score as 7 : 2 to a jubilant Macc Saints side.
The whole team worked well together and fought hard to achieve this well deserved result.

The second game was a much closer match. Alex Krayewski and George volunteered to be in goal and both made some good saves during the match.
Douglas Swallow captained the side, who through great teamwork with some skillfull passing, fought to keep much of the possession although the excellent defensive play by Barton and some great saves by the Barton goalie kept the first half score to 0 : 0.
In the second half, Matthew English, James and Reece Massey played well in defence but Barton battled through to score the first goal.
Macc Saints had many other spirited attempts on goal by Douglas Swallow, Alex K and Jamie Dook, to name a few, but it was Ross Hunter who managed to make one count half way into the second half.
The full time score - 1 : 1.
Well done to everyone who played !
Thanks to Karen (Ross Hunters mum) for the Match Reports.
