Vale Juniors v Macc Saints

Match 1:

Team A: Callum Bailey (c), Harry Nesbit, Ben Heginbotham, Kai Greasby, Lyon Jackson, Scott Dinsley, Adam Leonard, Joe Heginbotham, Josh Churchman.

Team A shook off last weeks below par performance to start this game very strongly, full blooded tackles rained in from all corners and the Saints pushed on for an opener in the first half but came up against a very good defence, then came the hammer blow as Vale caught the Saints on the break and finished well to go in 1-0 up at half time.

The second half was more of the same as Player of the Match Scott Dinsley moved into midfield and fought well to feed Adam and Joe up front. As hard as they tried they just could not unlock Vale, but this was the first time this team showed spirit after going behind and would have won this game 9 times out of 10.

Match 2:

Team B: Lewis Forshaw, George Wilson, Patrick Swallow, Tom Cawley, Daniel Tute, Daniel Dolling, Maddy Odell, Owen Taylor, James Wright.

This was a serious case of de-ja-vous as again the Saints had the better of the game Player of the Match George Wilson was fearless in defence and they held tight until a mix up put Vale a goal ahead.

Once again the supporters were made proud by the heads held high on the pitch and the fight taken to a physically bigger side. Team B also deserved to get back into this game pushing on in waves in the second half ( credit Vale for two excellent defences ) and heartbreakingly were caught on the break for the second goal which Lewis Forshaw could do little about in goal.

The league rep was present on Saturday and watched Macc Saints for the 1st time, he commented after that he had never seen two games that deserved to be draws more than ours.

Well done everyone if you give everything then you can be proud of yourselves win or lose, on Saturday the whole squad to a child gave everything.

Thank you to Vale as well who are extremely good hosts (we haven't beat them yet though he he).

Thanks to Martin for the above reports and to Graham for refereeing the match.
